Old School Spinach Dip
Who doesn’t love an Old School Spinach Dip? You know the one – served in a bread bowl and once a staple of every backyard gathering. I have to say, it’s still a favourite here and one that regularly appears when doing any sort of afternoon entertaining.
It’s just such a winning dip. It’s quick and easy to make, has ingredients that you can always get your hands on and is super tasty. Plus it looks good too. Kids and adults alike always demolish this whenever I make it. And I love that it brings back memories of my childhood whenever I make a batch. Really what more can you ask for out of a dip? So make sure you pop a plate of old school spinach dip on your menu for your next backyard bbq.
Ingredients
1 round cob loaf
1 tub of sour cream
1 pkt spring vegetable soup mix
1 pkt frozen spinach
1 tin water chestnuts, drained and finely chopped
Extra bread and vegetable sticks to serve
Instructions
1
Defrost the spinach and squeeze out all the moisture. Place into a bowl with the sour cream, soup mix and water chestnuts. Stir well to combine.
2
Cut the top off the cob loaf and scoop out the fresh bread inside, leaving a couple of cm wall of bread to create the bread bowl. Place the bread on a serving platter and fill with the dip.
3
Tear up the bread top and scooped out bread and arrange around the bread bowl to use for scooping. Add extra bread slices and vegetables sticks if needed.
