So how did Annabel’s Kitchen come about I hear you ask? Let me take you on a journey.
I’ve been a passionate foodie all my life – food has been something that inspired me for as long as i can remember. Cooking for others, planning dinner parties, creating new recipes, sharing my flavours, learning new techniques and trying new foods is something that ignites a real desire within me. When I’m in my food zone it consumes me – it’s all I think of!
For a long time I’ve been asked to share recipes or give advice on food and cooking. Both family and friends have asked over the years and I love nothing more than someone asking me if I have a recipe for X. As soon as I am asked, my brain is off and racing – either recalling a recipe or thinking of a new one that would do the food request justice. Just this week someone at my gym was looking for easy vegetable soup ideas and before long I had passed on two recipes from the memory bank. This sharing of ideas makes me happy!
There’s always been a part of me that wondered if my true purpose was something food related but I’ve never taken that step, despite contemplating it often. These days the desire is still there, but as a busy mum of two I realised I needed to find a way to stoke my passion for food whilst not taking me away from the family space. I’ve been contemplating how to go on this adventure for a few years now and I’m excited that I now have found some time to make it a reality.
This website is the result.
My plan is to post new recipes weekly and share ponderings from the kitchen like this one every now and then. I’ll talk menu planning for everyday meals as well as larger gatherings and dinner parties plus share menus from some of my gatherings. You’ll discover quickly I am a savoury girl but there will be the occasional dessert or sweet treat.
